Yes I had to make a decision on the horizon or the wooden structure being
skew. The pier I stood on was not straight, I used my tripod and shot both,
with straight building and straight horizon. It looked odd as it bothered
me, so I made a decision and kept the building straight. I decided to enter
it as is and see what will happen. The judges did comment on that “keeping
the horison straight” as it is natural and should always be like that, but
they also said that if the buildings were skew they would have said the same
thing. So this a catch 22 situation and I kept it with straight buildings
and went with it.

So I just stuck with what I thought looks better.

Hello Celeste, firstly congratulations on these awards, very beautiful. I am a fellow student at the OCA and I have a question. Before asking I am hopeful that I will be embarking on the PWDP course shortly, which will maybe put it into context. The shot of the sea has a very exaggerated sloping horizon. Can you tell me why you did that?

I do feel the same. When I shoot objects I can experiment and play around with light and shadows. When I just shoot for fun I sometimes have to consider the image and the technical detail of where I will use it. I always want to be able to create an image where I can produce a good negative for alternative processes.
